One of the hardest things for anyone to do these days is stay fit. That’s because there are so many temptations and lifestyles that can seem impossible to break free from. If you’re wanting to be fit, the first step is exercising. The second step is finding resolve to stick with your plans. The third part is finding support, engaging those close to you, and changing your lifestyles. Keep in mind that the changes don’t have to be drastic, but you do have to actively make a decision to change if you ever hope of being healthier and happier. Luckily, any age group can find things that keep them fit (even if you’re over the age of 50 or 60).
In this article, we’ll highlight 5 easy activities that you can do at home that will help keep you fit.
1. Going for A Jog or a Run, Before or After Work:
If you ask most people, running is one of their least favorite things to do. This is because the human race has become sedentary, and doesn’t have to run to survive anymore. That being said, running or jogging a mile or two a day can be the easiest, most effective way to stay fit and healthy. It maximizes your cardiovascular health, tones your core, and burns more calories than any other exercise. Set aside thirty to forty minutes a day to run- your body will thank you.
2.Doing 20-30 Push-ups, Sit-Ups, and Dips Every Day:
Another quick and easy home workout is to do solid repetitions of push-ups, sit-ups, and dips every day. The best part is that you don’t really need any extra equipment, just a chair to do dips with. These exercises are perfect because you don’t have to buy weights, and you can just do more and more repetitions without buying expensive equipment. Plus, they only take about 30 minutes to do (and cycle through the reps). When combined with running, you’ll be building your core, your back, your thighs, and your shoulders, all at once.
3. Stop Eating Fast Food:
Another easy step is to stop eating fast food. Even if you prepare the same exact meal at home, it’s going to contain less calories (and be cheaper over the long run). Incorporate more veggies in your diet, and cut back on starches and white carbs. Instead of potatoes for example, opt for sweet potatoes or cauliflower. Instead of noodles, use spaghetti squash. Your meals will still taste great, you’ll feel better, and your heart will thank you too.
4. Make Exercise a Fun Family Event:
Get the whole family involved in a walk, jog, hike, or bike ride around town to stay fit! With the advent of Pokémon Go, it’s easier than ever to get your family outside!
5. Make the Most Out of Your Chores:
Even chores can give you a workout if you push yourself. The motion involved in sweeping or mopping tightens your core. Outdoors work is great cardio when performed at a brisk pace as well. Every time you work, play, or move, think about how it’s working your muscles and try to make the most out of it!
Staying fit doesn’t have to be a chore! When you spend your time doing the right things, it’s easy to lose weight and feel active. Plus, it feels good to exercise, and you’ll feel sexier, too. All it takes to get started is resolve- decide that you’re going to make a change and do it. Within a month, you’ll notice a world of difference (with a healthier diet and regular exercise)
